I've been tagged

So apparently Facebook isn't the only place that you can be tagged. So while I'm going to partake in this blogger fun that my friend Jessi "tagged" me in, I have no clue how to tag anyone else and really have no one else that I know of who blogs that reads my blog. So here goes....

~The Rules~
1. You must post the rules.
2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
4. Tag eleven people and link them on your post.
5. Let them know you've been tagged!

ELEVEN FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
1. I'm very flexible. My mother used to tell me that as a child in my car-seat, she'd look back and see my legs above my head... I can still bring my legs above my head.
2. Useless fun facts entertain me. Like did you know The United States has never lost a war in which mules were used? Pretty interesting and I bet you won't forget that for awhile.
3. I bought a 32 inch flatscreen for my room and I don't even watch tv.
4. I make a funny MEPP noise on a pretty frequent occasion throughout the day. It's kinda like a hiccup but I have no explanation for it. People that know me are used to it, but when I encounter a new person and a MEEP escapes my mouth, they always ask "What was that?!"
5. I can't sing and I make up lyrics, but I still like to sing at the top of my lungs and laugh at myself.
6. I collect shot glasses of the places I've been to and I would really love for my next shot glass to be from New Zealand.
8. I've never broken a bone (knock on wood), but I have been hit in the head with a baseball bat and had to have stitches.
9. I have a degree in Radiography (taking X-rays), but couldn't find a job, so I'm still working at Biscuitville. In April I'll have been there 8 years. WOW
10. I despise snow and cold weather. Fall is my favorite season.
11. I've been running here lately, and today was the furthest I've gone. Three miles!

QUESTIONS FROM MY TAGGER, JESSI
1. What did you want to be when you were little?
Funny you ask- As a small child, not knowing what was good for me, my father would take me with him to Biscuitville. In the viewing window, I would watch the little lady making biscuits and apparently told my father that "I want to make Bis-its at Bis-it-ville". Some fifteen years later I've been living that dream. I also wanted to be a check out girl at the grocery store.
2. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Physical feature- Eyes
Other- My ability to remember stupid little things and events.
3. What's your favorite city?
Not really sure but I can assure you it's not Greenville, NC. I am a fan of Savannah, GA. Is that a city?
4. What's the last thing you ate?
Zaxby's chicken strips.
5. Take a Nap or Push Yourself?
I used to be all for naps, but here lately I've been a pusher.
6. Wine or Beer?
Beer
7. What is your biggest fear?
I'm terrified of the dark if I'm alone.
8. Name a book/movie that always makes you cry.
I balled like a baby reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. Lion King is also a tear jerker.
9. Do you have a hobby?
I like to paint and be crafty, but let's be serious, I don't have time for a hobby.
10. What is your favorite kind of music?
Contemporary Christian/Country
11. First thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word "floppy"
Bunny Rabbit Ears

So, the rules say that I'm suppose to come up with some more people and tag them and then give them 11 questions to answer, but like I said before, I don't know how to do that and don't know 11 people to tag, so I'll be skipping that part.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

Websters definition of Christian is: exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike. But what does it mean to be a Christian?
Last year I decided that I wanted to read the bible in a year. With my good friend, Kristyn, as my accountability partner, our goal as of January 1st is to read it in chronological order in a years time. Does this make me a Christian? Nope. Anyone can read the bible.
One of my new years resolutions, after constantly being surrounded by this spiteful girl at work, was to be a nicer person. I thought, maybe if I'm nice to her, she'll come around. Does being a nice person make me a Christian? Nope. There's lots of nice people out there who don't know Christ.
Another one of my new years goals is to try to remember to tithe. Does tithing make me a Christian? Nope.
Does going to church every Sunday or listening to K-Love in the car make someone a Christian? Nope.
Currently we're in the book of Job. In the pre-notes section I came across this sentence today and it really made me think. "We cannot have truth about God divorced from the mind of God."
Then tonight I came across this video being shared all over Facebook. It's only four minutes and definitely worth the watch.
So, while I've been a believer most of my life, my relationship with God hasn't been all that great. I slip and stumble more than I'd like too. I'm working on it though. God keeps opening my eyes to different things each day. So whoever you are, take time today when you read this, to say a prayer for me and my walk as a Christian.

Mud Run

Running has never been something that I find much joy in. In fact, usually I'm cursing and gasping for air and hating life if I have to do it. However, it's good for you. So people have told me. And I used to do a bit of running every now and then on a treadmill. But when I gained seven pounds over the Thanksgiving break, I was pretty determined to do something about that. Therefore I decided to start running since I'm too cheap to pay for a gym membership and would never go. So what better way to make myself run then decide I'm going to run a 5K, right? So I put "Run a 5K" on my bucket list.
I've started out kinda slow. But now 2 weeks into running, I'm at 1.2 miles in 13 minutes. Not too bad for me I guess. I hope to partake in a 5K within the next month or two, just to do it. However, I've got the ultimate goal set for April.... a mud run. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, it's the ultimate down and dirty, difficult 5K. The one I'm looking at doing is in Asheboro on a motor bike course. It's involves crawling through tunnels, climbing over walls, climbing up rope walls, mud slides and much much more. I think there's 13 obstacles in a 3.1 mile run. I've pretty much already decided that I'm going to enter this race, just for fun. So, here's to the new year, and to hoping I accomplish this item on my bucket list!

The Whelchels and Bucket Lists

So if you keep up with my life and blog, you might remember me blogging about meeting the Whelchels in Hawaii. Well since then I've seen Kim and Lon a few times when they've come down to visit Kim's parents at the "home" as they call it. I absolutely adore that entire family. But what do the Whelchels have to do with bucket lists you may be wondering? Well again, if you keep up with my blog, you'd know that I've wanted to partake in a flash mob. Just so happens that Kim Whelchel wanted to do a flash mob too so she coordinated one and I just had to join! They've been trying to get me to come visit them in VA anyways, so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and do both. So I drove to Richmond to stay the night with them and participate in the flash mob the next day. Everyone was home for the holidays, so it was like Waikiki all over again. They are full of so much energy and enthusiasm, it's hard not to have a good time around them.

The flash mob wasn't like what you'd see done by professionals, but nonetheless there was a great turn out of people and everyone had a good time. A news camera guy was even there to capture the entire thing for the news that day. We danced to Feliz Navidad and wished everyone a Merry Christmas at the end. I can't say that I was a great addition to the mob seeings how I had only practiced it twice the night before, but I stayed in the back and had a good time acting like I knew what I was doing.

The mob. I'm there in the grey sweater.

Not sure If the link above will work, but since it's not on youtube and I don't have footage of my own, the only way I've got access to a video is on Kim's facebook. So I think you're gonna have to be logged in to facebook to access the videos. If it does work, then click on the one that says Dec. 23.

But here's a video of probably one of the greatest flash mobs I've ever seen. Check it out if you've got time.
