You Can Always Go....

DOWNTOWN!

I'll give it to the city of Asheboro, they've worked really hard the past few years to turn our downtown  into something nice. I went there the other day to a new restaurant, The Table, with a friend and was shocked at how nice it has become lately. I'll give a review of the restaurant later, but today I went to take some pictures to give you a tour of lil ole downtown Asheboro.

The Table
The new restaurant in town. There's certainly no other place like this in town and everyone is always raving about this place. I'm shocked that they were able to turn the building around into this restaurant.
The Mill
This houses a restaurant and another little shop. The farmers market is also here.
The Farmers Market
It has local venders and farmers that come out each day to sell local produce and such.
Right around the corner on Sunset are a lot of cute shops and businesses. One of them is the Sunset Theatre. It's been there a LONG time and recently they've renovated the old theatre and do plays and show old movies here.
They painted this a few years ago by the rail road tracks. I think its so neat. The trains light actually shines at night.
Bicentennial Park
This is a neat little place where you can take your dog, go for a picnic, enjoy live music on the weekends, or just go sit on a bench and people watch.

Finally the last stop on the tour is The Mill Lofts. There used to be an old, run-down building in the middle of town. At one point I think it used to be a company that made chairs, I'm not sure about that though. Anywho, over the past year they have turned it into really cute apartments/lofts. This is a mural on the other side of the street from the lofts.

I'm really impressed with the work they've done to downtown Asheboro, now if they could just do some work to get business in the mall.....
